More Older and Bolder books to be launched

After a frustrating series of long delays, local author, speaker and facilitator Angela Robertson is delighted to be able to launch two more books in the Older and Bolder series in association with the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons. Embracing Life On Our Own Terms and Creating Life On Our Own Terms are collections of short stories that celebrate the lives of individuals from around New Zealand, many of whom live in our community. These men and women from all walks of life range in age from their mid-50s to 101 years and share a lifetime of wildly different experiences. “The theme throughout is about positive ageing and many of the men and women who feature in these books live in the Ka¯piti/Horowhenua community,” Angela said. “Later life offers so many possibilities for personal growth and the opportunity to channel our time and energy into the activities we enjoy and the relationships that really matter. “These individuals show us that life is a continuous adventure. Age is just a number at the end of the day. “Regardless of our age and circumstances we can change direction, expand our horizons, take advantage of the opportunities that are available to us and embrace life and all that it offers.” The books will be officially launched on Friday, October 15 at Ocean Road Community Centre, Paraparaumu Beach. Office for Seniors director Diane Turner and Enrich Retirement director Liz Koh are the guest speakers at the free public event, starting at 10am. Those present will have the opportunity to meet several of the individuals who feature in the book. The project has been entirely self-funded with copies of the books in the Older and Bolder series available for purchase at the event, directly from the author at, and are also available from online bookstores in paperback, e. book, and Kindle formats.
