THUMBS UP & DOWN Thumbs Up & Thumbs Down

NEWS

■ Thumbs up to the very considerate person who handed in to Replete the bag with our clothing purchases which we had left behind. Thank you whoever you are. ■ Thumbs up to the team at Taupo¯ Funeral Services, particularly Rebecca who was not only responsive, helpful, lovely, and patient but also ensured the process was culturally appropriate and culturally safe for us as a wha¯ nau. Our deepest gratitude and appreciation for making such a sorrowful time so much more bearable. ■ Thumbs up to the girls at the Mt Ruapehu store for sorting our passes and getting us all organised for a day on the mountain. Made the day so much easier not having to queue with young children — super friendly and so easy to get to for us locals! ■ Thumbs up to Taupo¯ Vet Centre for providing great care for our animals big and small even through difficult times. Always friendly and helpful, can’t thank you all enough. ■ Thumbs up to Taupo¯ Vodafone. Your team has been very helpful to our business needs throughout the last year, especially Erin for providing excellent service at all times. ■ Thumbs up to the team at Diamond Laser Medispa for providing a great service and Olivia for going out of your way to help a teenager out in your own break time. We cannot be more grateful for the smile you created on her face. ■ Thumbs up to the lovely people who had an Usherwoods Horticulture trailer on and stopped to help me in Ingle Ave and also ran me home when my car stopped dead. Thank you. ■ Thumbs down to the petrol prices in Taupo¯ . I make it my business never to fill up in Taupo¯ but feel for those who have no choice and are left to pay the greatly inflated prices. I travel regularly for work and Taupo¯ is always more expensive than elsewhere including rurally. ■ Thumbs down to all the bad drivers that think Wharewaka Rd is a race course. The speed monitor is supposed to slow you down. It is not there to see how fast you can drive. There is a retirement village and young school children that catch the school bus down that road. Please show some consideration. It is such a pity a speed camera hadn’t been installed at the same time as the monitor. ■ Do you have a bouquet or a brickbat? Email your thumbs up/ thumbs down to us at news@taupoweekender.co.nz, message Taupo Weekender on Facebook or drop them into our office upstairs at 4 Starlight Arcade, Taupo¯ . Thumbs up/thumbs down may be edited or abridged. Personal attacks or thumbs down that refer to easily-identifiable people, businesses or groups won’t be published.
